08 Aug Αrtistic results of HETEROTOPIA 2025
HETEROTOPIA 2025 is an exchange program for young artists from the international network ROOTS & ROUTES which was organised again this year in June 2025 by SMouTh in Larissa, in coordination with ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V. (Cologne/Germany) in collaboration with Kaunas Cultural Center of Various Nations (Kaunas/LI), Visual Voices (Nicosia/Cyprus) and co-funded by Erasmus+ project of the EU.
Twenty-nine young artists from Germany (Cologne), Lithuania (Kaunas), Cyprus (Nicosia), and Greece (Larissa) met for nine days in Larissa, at SYNERGEIO Culture Space and exchanged creative tools, ideas and experiences. The results of this multicultural coexistence and collaboration can be watched in the following list of videos. A short documentary created by Dimitris Vallas, complements the playlist and tracks the 9-days exchange process. The central theme of program was the concept of heterotopia—the “other place” – as described by Michel Foucault and other philosophers and social scientists: a framework of multiple narratives, otherness and possible subversions of the dominant reality. The participants, organised into small creative groups, approached the theme through personal and collective research, creative dialogue and artistic experimentation. Each group’s final project is a synthesis of performing and audiovisual arts, forming a rich mosaic of experiences, narratives, and reflection.
