HETEROTOPIA YOUTH EXCHANGE

HETEROTOPIA YOUTH EXCHANGE

Open Call for New/Young Artists

Do you want to live a 10-day international artistic experience in Larissa?

The ROOTS & ROUTES network invites you to the youth exchange “HETEROTOPIA”, an artistic exchange for young artists who want to explore and co-create ”the other” in the contemporary world.

Heterotopia”: the term originally comes from medicine, where it is used to describe tissues that are in an abnormal or “wrong” position. In the field of sociology and philosophy, the concept of heterotopia was developed by the philosopher Michel Foucault, to render specific cultural or institutional spaces that function as “other” spaces – that is, places that are disconcerting, disruptive of the ordinary, contradictory or transformative. Heterotopias are “worlds within worlds”: they resemble their surroundings, but at the same time differentiate from or upset them.

In this exchange, we will seek out urban and rural heterotopias and interpret them artistically through collaboration, experimentation and creation.
