OASES for Change: Organising Artistic Self-Empowerement Spaces aims at highlighting the power of non-formal education projects combining arts and youth empowerment work while taking both aspects seriously: Individual/social/political learning as well as arts and creativity as fundamental ways of expression, communication and being human.
Based on these values, organisations in the OASES consortium have been hosting international exchange projects for young artists – “artists” in a wide sense, fostering especially young people with less access to formal, or privately paid, artistic education – since 17+ years, during 65+ international youth exchanges, residencies and seminars hosted within the international ROOTS & ROUTES network.
The project partners, after two rounds of good practices exchange in international trainings and two rounds of running pilot youth exchanges, will deliver two concrete results:
-Quality criteria and guidelines for several aspects of hosting, and sending groups to, arts-based international youth exchanges;
-Tools facilitating hosting, and sending groups to, arts-based international youth exchanges.
The project (Erasmus+ KA2) is coordinated by ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne and brings together 9 more artistic organisations across Europe: Empreinte (Lille/FR), Centro di Creazione e Cultura (Florence/IT), Lloyd’s Company (Rotterdam/NE), Royal Court Theatre (Liverpool/UK), Streetdance Centre (Salzburg/AU), Subjective Values Foundation (Budapest/HU), Kaunas Centre of Various Nations (Kaunas/LI), Blues Dernegi (Istanbul/TU) and SMouTh (Larissa/GR).
