Waving workshop at SMouTh

Waving workshop at SMouTh

The Synergy of Music Theatre (SMouTh), consistently oriented to the education and promotion of the performing arts, hosts on Friday 6 June the internationally acclaimed dancer and experienced instructor Youngung Sebastian Kim (a.k.a JAEK1) in a unique ‘’Waving workshop’’. The Korean-born artist is coming to Larissa for the first time, giving dancers of all levels and styles the opportunity to experience a unique style of movement.

This particular training activity is part of SMouTh’s educational mission to bring the city’s audience in contact with contemporary trends, innovative methodologies and distinguished artists from Greece and abroad. The extraordinary Waving workshop is part of the enrichment of SMouTh’s annual educational program, utilizing the partnerships and collaborations it develops with national and international artists and institutions. The workshop is addressed not only to SMouTh’s students, but is also open to the wider public of the city who are interested in participating.

The waving style was born in California and consists of creating the illusion of water flowing through the body, rolling the joints either in or out of the hands and/or body. It is used in the dynamic style of street dance which is closely related to hip-hop culture. The tick wave, the vibrating wave or the trace wave are some of the movements included in this style.

The “Waving Workshop” with JAEK1 is not just a seminar – it is a cultural encounter that transforms Larissa into a meeting point between the global dance scene and local creativity.
