‘’Talk2Me’’ is an Erasmus+ KA2 project in the field of inclusion of refugees and migrants in European societies which SMouTh has joined.
Following up the transnational project “DeTalks – Creative and Inclusive Non-Verbal Education” which combined artistic methods and language learning, ‘’Talk2Me’’ comes to explore how arts-based language practices can make a positive contribution to the empowerment of young refugees and migrants and encourages the recognition of skills through collective events and creations.
Talk2Me is a two-year project coordinated by Les Têtes de l’Art Marseille (France) in partnership with Centro di Creazione e Cultura APS (Italy), SMouTh Synergy of Music Theatre Larissa (Greece), Subjective Values Foundation Budapest (Hungary) and Instituto Andaluz de Formación y Mercado Seville (Spain), and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
As part of the project, a first online partnership meeting was held online at the end of March 2024 and the first round of assessment needs workshops was launched by SMouTh with two strategic visits:
- The first one, at Habibi Works on 20 April 2024, offering spaces and skills development workshops right next to the Katsika refugee camp outside the city of Ioannina, and
- The second, at the Shelter for Unaccompanied Minors in Larissa Cell of Alternative Youth Activites (KEAN) on 8 May 2024.
Together with these two organisations, we had the opportunity to express our creativity and open the discussion on the challenges and needs of newcomers and workers in the field of language education and communication.
The next round of workshops will focus on the development of new practices and tools, involving all the target groups of the project (refugees, asylum seekers, staff and volunteers working in accommodation facilities and in training/skills development organisations) in the process.
The kick-off face-to-face meeting will take place next week in Florence and we look forward to delving deeper into the project activities. Warm thanks to the staff, volunteers and beneficiaries of Habibi Works and to the Cell of Alternative Youth Activites (KEAN) for their warm hospitality and cooperation.
