ON WINDS
an original creation of SMouTh
commissioned by the Municipality of Larissa in the context of the events “Hippocrates – The Perpetual Return 2021”
On Winds is inspired by Hippocratic discourse, seeking a contemporary reading of it, in an period where the values of freedom and public health seem to be in conflict. Developed in five chapters, the creation is an interdisciplinary performance of music theatre and documentary theatre, which, by juxtaposing selected passages from Hippocrates’ writings with contemporary philosophical and scientific texts and articles, manages to illuminate common truths as well as new concepts such as that of “syndemic” and to highlight the urgent need for a “social vaccine”.
