13 May ”I dance because…”
The Synergy of Music Theatre presents the original show “I dance because…”, with the participation of the teenage and adult dance classes on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 May at 21:00 at Synergeio, culture space.
A unique experience of getting to know the dance classes’ work coming on stage in a performance-celebration of body expression and personal awakening. The original choreographies and authentic movement of the participants unfold a world where the personal becomes collective and expression finds the space to flourish with freedom, inspiration and social
address.
Starting with the statement “I dance because…” a multi-layered scenic narrative is born that explores which reasons give the body the impetus to move, what causes a shiver in the soul, how dance occupies our everyday life regardless of age, and what stories can we tell using body motion without words? Classical and contemporary dance are intertwined in original choreographies by the SMouTh’s trainers: Athina Manoli, Despina Bounitsi and Dimitra Zacharouli.
Since 2001, SMouTh has been developing an innovative model of informal artistic education in its workshops, creating places of fruitful dialogue between spontaneous expression and technical training. From pre-school age to maturity, intimacy with art is fostered and expression, empowerment and skill enhancement is encouraged with a sense of a dynamic community. At the heart of the educational process is always the human being and his or her potential as a creator and participant in a journey of artistic discovery.
This first performance launches the new series of presentations of the SMouTh’s educational workshops for the current year 2024-2025. Each presentation is a distillation of the collective creation and artistic development of the trainees that vividly showcases the methodology and philosophy of the artistic organization.
