07 Apr Spiritus Loci: Shaping a timely and timeless meaning of cultural heritage
SMouTh’s researchers’ and artists’ team, jointly with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Larissa and the local youth group MAKE USE, will present diverse artistic and youthful approaches to the re-purposing of local cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, and its impact and role in active citizens lives in an event taking place at the Diachronic Museum of Larissa.
On May 9th, meaningfully coinciding with Europe Day 2023, SMouTh will present the outcomes of Spiritus Loci project, an Erasmus+ collaboration of SMouTh with 4 cultural organisations and 2 Universities from 5 EU countries. The project’s outcomes include an online, free-access training course and a documentary following the experience of the project implementation and the creation of artistic results in all countries of the consortium.
Representatives of the Diachronic Museum and the Association of Friends of the Diachronic Museum will guide the participants in a journey across the old, new and diachronic “spirit of the place” of Larissa through their interventions, while MAKE USE group, supported by Generation Europe Network, will introduce a young active citizens’ approach to mapping the city and its monuments.
The event aims at highlighting the here-and-now role of all what belongs to our common history and its dynamic in citizens’ awareness and responsiblity and it invites educators, artists, curators, archaeologists and any interested person to join the discussion.
