About the performance
Three female contemporary dancers embody the intensity of an inner struggle: the struggle for self-realization. Caught between personal dreams, social expectations, and the unpredictability of life, they search for a balance that constantly eludes them. Where do the limits of striving for self-realization lie, and when does this pursuit become a burden?

The title Laskarines refers to Laskarina Bouboulina, one of the few female warriors of the Greek War for Independence of 1821. After dedicating all her wealth to the revolution, she was later exiled due to political conflicts and ultimately lost her life in a family conflict. If she could live her life again, would Laskarina make the same choices?

In Laskarines, choreographer Vasiliki Bara combines elements of the Greek folk dances and video games – two seemingly opposing worlds brought together through the notion of fight. Together with the dancers Daria Belous, Senja Brütting and Mandy Unger, Vasiliki creates a dynamic choreography featuring dynamic steps, jumps, and geometric formations. The performance is accompanied by original electroacoustic compositions by Konstantinos Baras and costumes by Marilena Georgantzi.

Following its premiere in December 2025 in Leipzig, Laskarines continues its journey with performances in Larissa and Innsbruck.
