TRANSITION- Open Call for dancers

TRANSITION Network of Thessalian Festivals, keeping track of its principal goal of the development and establishment of collaborations and the support and networking of artists, is launching an open call for dancers, for the participation in an artistic residency with the acknowledged French choreographer, Nabil Ouelhadj. The aim of the residency is the creation of a performance, which will be presented in the framework of the artistic schedule of the three participating festivals (Mill of Performing Arts, Volos Festival, Trikala Comedy Festival).

Nabil Ouelhadj, founder of the Racines Carrées dance group, has in his background numerous collaborations in various artistic environments (from urban dance to contemporary dance and from traditional Chinese circus to audiovisual arts). These practices he will attempt to compose, exploring the concept of TRANSITION in the contemporary dance scene, in an original piece that will come through the 5days residency.

The residency will take place in Larissa, inside the venues of Pappas Mill, from 16 to 20 September, and the performance will be presented in the 3 cities of the network (Larissa, Volos, Trikala) from 21-23/09.

Participation in the residency is free of charge.

The dancers submitting their participation form should be experienced in contemporary and/or street dance residency θα πρέπει να έχουν εμπειρία στον σύγχρονο χορό ή/και το street dance.

A few words about the choreographer

Nabil Ouelhadj (FR)

Choreographer, performer and trainer, between Universities and choreographic centres, his non-formal path open its doors to diverse universes. He has collaborated with Carolyn Carlson and José Montalvo, he is the assistant of Farid Berki and Kader Attou, with whom he creates pieces and artistic projects in an international level. A member of artists’ board of the ROOTS & ROUTES International network and creator of Racines Carrées group, he has been the initiator of numerous performances combining dance, video, theatre and music, presented in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He is a member of “Masters in Motricity, Expression, Language and Health” and his career as a choreographer has been reinforced through international trainings that gave him the ability to become an expert in artistic-pedagogical aspects of urban dance.

The three festivals of Thessalian Festivals Network (Mill of Performing Arts, Volos Festival, Trikala Comedy Festival) are implemented this year with the support of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Mill of Performing Arts is co-organised by the Mayoralty of Culture and Sciences of the Municipality of Larissa and Synergy of Music Theatre.
