18 Nov SMouTh at the national meeting of Anna Lindh Network
SMouTh gladly responded to the invitation from ‘’Anna Lindh’’ National Network (ALF Hellas) to participate in the annual ALF national meeting held for the first time from 13 to 17 November 2024 in the city of Komotini, at the conference room of the Municipal Library.
The proclamation of Komotini as the 1st “National Youth Capital” for 2024, was an impetus to host this year the FORUM on youth in the modern era and the cooperation between civil society bodies with the local government and the academic community. The FORUM included in depth presentations of good and bad practices from the experience of the European Youth Capital in Thessaloniki (2014) and from the organisation of the National Youth Capital in Komotini.
An introductory presentation of the funded projects and funding opportunities of ALF initiated the meeting by the representative of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, who is also the coordinating partner of the network.A detailed seminar on Volunteering followed by the representative of HIGGS and a capacity building workshop on Cultural Management by the representative of Arte Con Anima.
The national meeting was an excellent opportunity for SMouTh to be informed about relevant current issues, to get acquainted with the work of active NGOs and cultural institutions, and connect with experienced and dedicated professionals from NGOs or Local Authorities who specialise in the fields of cultural heritage, democratisation, human rights and the role of women in society, youth, education and communication, scientific research, environment and sustainability.
Within the context of the national meeting, participants joined an interesting Cultural tour at the city that illuminated the history and the particular diversity of Komotini’s culture.
We would like to thank the heads and coordinators of the national ALF network, Mr. Stefanos Vallianatos (on behalf of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture) and Mr. Aris Paraschos (on behalf of the United Balkan Societies) for the rich and impeccable organization and hospitality.
We renew our appointment for the next ALF national meeting in 2025 which will has been unanimously decided to be assigned (after a call and selection) to a different institution of the national AL network.
