14 Nov Artists of SMouTh travel to Romania
In the village of Bicălatu in Transylvania, SMouTh’s artists participated as trainers in the third artistic residency within the ImproLands project along with partners from Italy, Spain and Romania. The aim of the project is to use improvisational theatre as a tool to empower rural communities in crisis due to natural disasters, depopulation and /or solitude.
One of the most important moments of this trip was connecting with the local community. The sunny courtyard of the Village Cultural Centre became a place of gathering, creation and interaction. We cooked together with the community people in the morning, had lunch together, coordinated activities with the community children and held an open workshop-participatory performance with music, dance and sharing of stories about the past, present and future of the community.
The artistic team of ImproLands has now completed its journey in Italy, Spain and Romania and is moving on to its final stop, in Larissa, where the final presentation of the project will take place in the autumn of 2025.
